Gotta post something so SOMEONE will stop giving me livejournal nudges.

I've been working on my honors research proposal, and it's going well. I should be done by tomorrow, and ready to send it off to my professor. Today, I painted Elphaba, i.e. an american girl doll to look like Elphaba, the wicked witch of the west. I also read some of The Mists of Avalon. I'm really glad I took a mini summer vacation, rather than taking the last summer session course I had planned to take.

Okay! S'all for now.

I think I was poked again, but not sure how long ago that actually was --- probably a few days ago, but I ignored it.

Gonna post... something.

I'm taking summer classes. They're a grand pain in the ass.  Luckily, my last two classes were canceled for this first mini semester, so that's how I ended up having this week off. Magical, right? No. My mom's been in the hospital every freaking day, and now she's going to be camped there until they do a cardiac ablation. She'll hopefully be home by next Wednesday.
And so, for every day of my vacation, I've been in the hospital. But I don't mind, because I really care about my mom.

Next week I start another three classes. The lady in the registrar office looked at me as if I had ten heads when I went to sign up for the third. She was like "Well, you're not on academic probation, and you're in the Honors' program, so go ahead."
Grand! I did -- I went right ahead. So, THREE classes for ME next week (and for the next five weeks, until the mini semester is over). Exciting, yes?

I finished Moby Dick somewhere along the way (between The Killer Inside me, The Real Cool Killers and a whole BUNCH of literary theory), and I read Nellie's promise last night. Now I'm sort of leaning towards having Bridget/Jenny dolls (who will wear Samanthaesque clothes/Samantha clothes/Nellie clothes), but I realized that AG doesn't make any Just Like You dolls who look like the illustrations of Bridget and Jenny. Plus, I'm not sure that I want Just Like You dolls who LOOK like the illustrations.
I definitely want a doll named "Stormy" who'll have AT LEAST partially purple hair. I'm not sure how I feel about having a doll with completely purple hair. I think she'll just be... an ALLUSION to the character "Stormy" rather than a STORMY replica.

Yeah.

What else? Currently reading Sun Tzu's Art of War. I dug out the rest of my old American girl books, but it's doubtful that I'll have the chance to start reading them before class starts on Monday.

And here's where I make an abrupt stop. I'll try to post soon... -- before I'm jabbed again.

Since someone NUDGED me and said I must post, here goes.
Instead of doing my Disciplinary Literacy in English homework, I've been procrastinating. I should be reading some garbage about the signifier and the signified as applied to psychology, but no. I was on alluc.org, watching Heroes. I have a new favorite song, from the episode "Collision" -- Eyes, by Rogue Waves. I've definitely heard it before, but I didn't bother to look up the title/lyrics. Good song.

Missed the last train home.
Birds pass by to tell me that I'm not alone.

Well I'm pushing myself to finish this part,
I can handle a lot,
But one thing I'm missing is in your eyes.
In your eyes

Have you seen this film?
It reminds me of wandering through the avenues.

Washing my hands of attachments yeah,
I can land on the ground,
but one thing I'm missing is in your eyes.
In your eyes.

In your eyes (9)

Current book: Moby Dick -- which, I'm told, you shouldn't read at 7:30 in the morning.

Today was dull. There's nothing to report. When is there ever?

Few people have anything interesting to report, and yet we all do it anyway. It's because we're all nosy. We like to keep track of everyone's failures and successes -- and yes, I purposefully place the former before the latter. I don't feed off of misery, but it seems like a lot of people do.

Only two more finals, a few more papers to fill out, a few possible seminars. Then I get to wait a few weeks before starting summer classes.

I need to go to the bookstore in the coming days and purchase all of the books on my summer reading list. Forget about what I'll have to read for school. Somehow, I've lost track of what I'm supposed to be reading, even though I made several lists. I think it's going to be: Ralph Waldo Emerson's 3,000 page journal, Emerson essays, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gone with the wind, Running with scissors, Star Wars books (shush), Harry Potter, and... bleh, some other things that have been on my lists forever.

I think that's all for now.
